The Need: Diverse Thought Leadership

MMTC’s Social Justice and Digital Equity Policy Program: Building a Trusted Think Tank for Knowledge Dissemination and Consensus-Building

MMTC’s DE Policy Associates program will provide a forum and think tank for innovative thinking, data-driven knowledge dissemination, and consensus-building among those on multiple sides of the major tech, media, and telecom policy issues impacting communities of color.  MMTC’s DE Policy Associates would become the trusted, “go-to” sources in these areas to solve problems that uniquely impact communities of color, filling a gap where the conversation is often dominated by think tanks that do not represent voices of color or have them in leadership positions.

Our impact will be measured through improvements in digital connectivity, proficiency, and literacy within the communities most in need, as well as increased diverse representation in the TMT sector, at all levels (e.g., workforce, C-suite, entrepreneurship, and the supply chain).

While MMTC has been a major voice in the TMT space, with a staff of seven, MMTC is deeply under-resourced.  Building a dedicated team of DE Policy Associates will help us to have a meaningful, timely impact in the areas where we have expertise and can make a difference.
